John 11:17-27

Discussion Questions:

Open Discussion

What is something that you want to remember from the sermon?

What stood out to you from the passage of Scripture?

Sermon Discussion:

Where in your life does it currently feel like Jesus is “late”? What makes waiting on Him difficult in that situation?

When God’s timing doesn’t match yours, what are you tempted to do to take control?

Jesus tells Martha, “I am the resurrection and the life.” What difference does following Jesus make in your life today, not just someday?

Where are you most tempted to look for “life” outside of Jesus—pleasure, relationships, money, success, acceptance, control, or something else? What has that pursuit promised you, and what has it actually delivered?

Martha calls Jesus “Lord.” What is one area of your life that needs to come further under the authority of Jesus this week? What would saying “no” to yourself and “yes” to Jesus actually look like?

Application

Jesus asks Martha, “Do you believe this?” What do you need to do this week to believe Jesus?

Instead of trying to take control when things feel chaotic, what is one thing you will do to draw near to the Lord? Who can help you?
