Book of John: Week 29

John 10:22-42

Discussion Questions:

Open Discussion:

What were the 3 main points of the sermon?

What do you want to remember the most from the passage of scripture or the sermon?

Sermon Discussion:

How would you explain the difference between notitia (knowledge), assensus (assent), and fiducia (trust)? Which one do you think people most often mistake for genuine saving faith?

Jesus promises that no one can snatch His sheep out of His hand. How should that promise change the way a Christian deals with guilt, fear, or ongoing struggles with sin?

The religious leaders rejected Jesus despite all the good He had done. Why do you think people can appreciate Jesus' kindness while still rejecting His claims to be God?

There were many who believed after Jesus went across the Jordan outside of Jerusalem due to people rejecting him. What does that teach us about faithfulness in sharing the gospel, especially when people don't seem receptive?

The sermon ended with the statement, "Don't let a temporary setback convince you you're a long-term failure." Where are you tempted to believe that lie right now, and how does John 10 give you hope to keep trusting the Good Shepherd?

Application

Jesus says, "My sheep hear my voice... and they follow me" (John 10:27). What are 3 practical ways you can better hear and follow the voice of Jesus this week?

Who can you include in that journey to help you?

Who can you help?
