Christ Is Our Firm Foundation
Discussion Questions:
1. Walking Where Jesus Walked -
What part of the first part of the trip (Nazareth, Capernaum, or the Sea of Galilee) most helped you picture the realness of Jesus’ earthly ministry? Why do you think physically seeing these places can deepen faith?
2. When Circumstances Change Suddenly
The trip shifted quickly from enjoying honeycomb at breakfast to having 90 seconds to reach a bomb shelter. Have you ever experienced a moment where life suddenly changed or felt uncertain? What did that reveal about what you trust most?
3. Temporary vs. Eternal
2 Corinthians 5:1 reminds us that our earthly life is like a tent, while God has prepared something eternal for us. What are some temporary things we often cling to that situations like this remind us will not last?
4. Anxiety to Assurance
The sirens, warnings, and bunker trips created real fear. Yet Scripture reminds us: “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” (Psalm 20:7) Where do you most often feel anxiety in life, and how can trusting Christ more deeply move you toward assurance rather than fear?
5. Complacency to Urgency
Experiences like this can remind us how fragile life is. What are some conversations, acts of obedience, or gospel opportunities we may be delaying that God might be calling us to act on now?
6. The Hope of the Gospel
The rainbows during the trip reminded us that God keeps His promises. In a world that feels unstable or dangerous, how does the promise of Christ’s return and the hope of the gospel give us confidence to live boldly today?
