Sermon Discussion
John opens his Gospel “in the beginning.” Why do you think John starts where Genesis starts instead of with Jesus’ birth like Matthew and Luke?
Describe how seeing Jesus as eternal Creator shape the way you trust Him in present-day problems?
John calls Jesus “the Word.” In what ways does Jesus reveal God more clearly than rules, religious systems, or spiritual experiences ever could?
John says Jesus is both “with God” and “was God.” How does the relational nature of God (Father, Son, Spirit) influence the way we think about friendships, marriage, parenting, and church community?
John the Baptist is described as a witness, not the light. Are there areas where your life might be sending mixed or unclear signals about what matters most?
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Where do you most feel the weight of darkness right now—personally, relationally, or culturally?
How does Jesus being Creator and Light change the way you face that darkness?
Jesus is “full of grace and truth.” Which one do you tend to emphasize more—grace or truth—and why?
Application
Name the truth you may be resisting that, if embraced, would open the door to deeper grace this year?
How can you specifically look for a message from God instead of a person in response to this sermon?
What does it look like in real life to point to Jesus without trying to be the hero?
