Sermon Discussion

Jesus stood up at the Feast of Booths and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” What do you think people in our culture are most thirsty for right now? What are you personally tempted to look to for satisfaction besides Jesus?

Read Isaiah 55:1–2. Why do you think people continue spending their lives on things that “do not satisfy”? Can you think of a time when you realized something you chased could never truly satisfy you?

Jesus does not merely offer advice, religion, or morality — He offers Himself. What does it practically look like to “come to Jesus and drink” in everyday life?

In John 7:38, Jesus says believers will have “rivers of living water” flowing from them through the Holy Spirit. Where are you currently seeing the Spirit produce life, blessing, conviction, or transformation in you? Where do you want to grow?

The sermon described several responses to Jesus: believers, the unconvinced, the arrogant, and the antagonistic. Which response do you most commonly see in our culture? Which response are you personally most tempted toward?

The Pharisees dismissed Jesus without seriously investigating Him. What are some modern ways people casually dismiss Jesus today? How can we guard ourselves from becoming spiritually prideful or resistant to God’s truth?
