We've identified 6 key next steps that help us grow in our relationship with Jesus.

Believe & Belong

We’re all looking for something. We all want to experience joy, freedom, satisfaction, and healing. The gospel provides an answer to our longing, and begins to heal the brokenness we all feel.

The first step in a faith journey is believing the gospel of Jesus. Jesus lived a perfect life on our behalf, and died the death we deserve to die, so that we may rise with Him in His resurrection.

Belonging to a faith family is a vital part of your relationship with Jesus. Ephesians 5:25 tells us that Jesus Christ loves and gave Himself for the church. At Northside, membership has meaning. Our steps toward membership are:

1 - Believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ
2 - Baptism by immersion after you believe in the gospel
3 - Attend Discover Northside - our introduction to life at Northside
4 - Agree to our statement of beliefs, & participate in membership affirmation

Community

Community Groups are comprised of people walking through the good, bad, and ugly of life while reminding one another of the gospel. We have groups that meet on and off campus on different nights of the week.

Our groups focus on four practices:
Participation - What is happening in our community that we can be a part of?
Service - How can we serve inside and/or outside our church together?
Hospitality - How can we share meals and invite others into community?
Fellowship - How will we practice Bible study, prayer, and care?

Service

In Luke 22:6, Jesus says, “Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.” It’s been said that you’re never more like Jesus than when you serve. At Northside, we have several opportunities for service.

KidSide - Background-checked individuals teach lessons, care for babies, and connect with kids. You can serve in KidSide every other week, as a fill-in based on your availability, or every week to provide consistency for kids that live inconsistent lives.

Students - We desire for teenagers to build significant relationships with godly adults. We need a fantastic team of adults to create an excellent environemnt for our young people.

Production - Production volunteers help deliver an excellent, distraction-free service environment. If you’re creative, intuitive, hard-working, and have a passion for visual excellence and details, working with production might be your next step. There are spots to volunteer at every service.

Connect Team - Volunteers who serve on the Connect Team specialize in hospitality, helping people feel welcome at Northside. From the moment a person steps onto a campus until the time they leave, The Connect Team makes people feel welcomed and offers opportunities to serve before, during, and after all of our Sunday services.

Creative Team - Creative Team volunteers help with graphic design, photography, digital communication, blogging, print collateral, web management, and social media. If you’re a photographer, writer, graphic designer, web designer, or have skills as a podcast or video editor, joining our Creative Team might be your next step.

Grove Way - We have an ongoing ministry with children and families at the Grove Way housing authority. Volunteers tutor children, play games, and build relationships with families.

Generosity

Jesus said in Matthew 6:21, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” There is an inseperable link between our hearts and our money. We have the opportunity to experience heart transformation as we give cheerfully of our time, talent, and treasure.

At Northside we profess that our God owns everything and He provides according to His steadfast will and plan. We encourage the Northside family to live lives that are abundantly generous and sacrificial.  Through giving regularly, joyfully, and sacrificially we remind ourselves and demonstrate to others the truth of the gospel of Christ. You can give through Northside church in three ways:

1 - Setup recurring giving online at gonorthside.com/give. You can also make a one-time offering.
2 - Give during the Sunday morning service.
3 - Online bill pay - Use your bank’s bill pay feature to set up recurring donations at no charge to Northside or you.

Spiritual Disciplines

Prayer, reading Scripture, and healthy study can grow our faith and love for Jesus. We respond to God’s love toward us by pressing back into Him. Spiritual disciplines connect us to Christ.

You can start reading and understanding the Bible today using Matt Rogers’ 7 Arrows of Bible Reading. Simply start in a book of the Bible (we recommend the gospel of John) and answer these 7 questions:

.: What does this passage say?
.: What did this passage mean to it’s original audience?
.: What does this passage tell us about God?
.: What does this passage tell us about man?
.: What does this passage demand of me?
.: How does this passage change the way I relate to people?
.: What does this passage prompt me to pray?

Start with just one chapter per day, and journal your thoughts and response to these questions. Also, check out our resource center to find Bibles, Bible study tools, and good books that stir our affections for Christ.

The Lord uses spiritual disciplines to align our hearts to His glory, will, and love. As we study the Bible, pray, rest, and share our story, our affections, thoughts, and desires align with God's best for us.  Below are more recommended resources for diving into Scripture.

We are a gospel-centered community on mission. Together, we partner to reach our neighbors, nation, and nations for Christ. We do this two ways. First, we take a “gospel on the ground” approach to reaching people. Living missionally means developing intentional relationships for the sake of the gospel.

We want to see every Northsider living life on mission. The 3 circles life conversation guide is a great way to communicate the gospel to those around us.
